Restoration Biologist

Careers in the Redwoods

Streams and rivers need to be restored for a variety of reasons but most of the time restoration is needed because people have not treated them well. To repair the damage caused by past mining or logging operations, a restoration biologist will come to a stream with the plants and animals that live there in mind. With careful planning, the stream can be returned to a more natural state and become a healthier place for all plants and animals that live in or near the stream being restored.

What skills are important for a restoration biologist?

You will need to examine and identify problems and the potential hazards and damages that are in streams. Whether the result of natural processes, deliberate act or accident, you work with other professionals such as biologists and conservationists to redesign landscapes.
